Any kind of abuse, humiliation, or harassment of new entrants or junior students by the senior students comes under ragging. In its severe form a new entrant faces physical or psychological torture. In 2009, the University Grants Commission of India introduced regulations upon Indian universities to help to curb ragging and launched a toll-free 'anti-ragging helpline'. The colleges are given strict guidelines to constitute such committees and cells against this offence. Under UGC guidelines, GDC Salooni has also constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad. At the time of admission, all students have to fill an on-line declaration or affidavit regarding not to involve in any ragging activity.
